Karnataka High Court quashes charges against Kodagu homestay owner in US national rape case

Noticing that the homestay owner was booked under the provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946, which was repealed in its entirety on September 1, 2025, the Court said “criminality cannot be conjured out of a statutory provision which had ceased to exist.”
